Originally from southern Louisiana, Dr. Kidd attended Louisiana State University where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society, Alpha Epsilon Delta Pre-medical Honor Society, and was active in her sorority and many other organizations. She received a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology.
During her college years, Dr. Kidd developed her passion for caring and advocating for women through volunteer work at the Rape Crisis Center, local hospitals, and as a founding member of Advocates for Better Body Image, which addressed the prevalence of eating disorders in women.
Dr. Kidd attended Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine in Shreveport. In medical school, she continued to find herself involved with causes and research addressing the health care needs of women including HIV education and breast cancer research and advocacy. Dr. Kidd received several academic scholarship awards and upon graduation was honored with the Horace E. Thompson M.D. Award for Excellence in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Choosing obstetrics and gynecology as a specialty was one of the easiest decisions Dr. Kidd had to make in medical school, and she was very excited to complete her training at the prestigious University of Texas Southwestern, Parkland Health and Hospital Systems. Her training at Parkland was invaluable, providing experience caring for patients with true needs and conditions previously only read about.
Her true joy came from working with patients and helping them to understand the complexity of their condition or procedure, their goals, and becoming a true partner in their health care needs and decisions.
In addition to providing the best care for her patients, Dr. Kidd was also passionate about teaching other residents and medical students and was awarded Excellence in Medical Student Teaching in 2007 and 2009 and also the Dean Carpenter Award for Excellence in Resident Teaching in 2008.
Dr. Kidd and her husband Michael Villa, Jr., along with their dog Evangeline, are excited to become permanent residents of north Texas and look forward to becoming more involved in the local community. Dr. Kidd is also passionate about art, music, and anything related to the LSU tigers.
