Lori Halderman, M.D.

Dr. Halderman was raised in Hawaii and moved to Southern California in 1987 to attend the University of Southern California for undergraduate education (1992 B.S. in Exercise Physiology) and medical school (1996) .

“Since the island that I lived on in Hawaii had the only neonatal Intensive Care Unit in the pacific, we frequently had premature and sick babies brought in from other islands. This was always featured in the news and discussed in the community,” notes Dr. Halderman. “Their stories inspired me to become a doctor, caring for pregnant patients and new moms.”

She completed her residency at Harbor UCLA Medical Center in Torrance California (1996-2000) where she received many awards including “Outstanding Teaching Resident” in 1998, 1999 and 2000.  She was also acknowledged for her outstanding senior research paper, “The Effect of DMPA on Lactation when given within 72 hours postpartum” and was Chief Resident in 1999-2000.  Dr. Halderman edited the hospital’s resident handbook from 1997-2000.

She and her husband, Jay, moved to McKinney Texas in July 2000.  Their two children, James and Jessica, were delivered by Dr. Tracey Banks at North Central Medical Center .

“One of the unique things about our practice is how closely we work together as physicians, moms and members of the larger McKinney community,” notes Dr. Halderman.  “In fact, I delivered Dr. Bank’s youngest son, Ayden, 13 days after my daughter was born and she delivered both of my children.  Our respect and admiration for each other is significant to our practice philosophy.”

The Halderman family are active members of the First United Methodist Church in McKinney . Jay serves on the Communications Committee and Dr. Halderman serves on the Nursery Committee. Dr. Halderman is active with United Methodist Women, a women’s group, and Sunday School .  She speaks annually at several women’s group luncheons at the church and   in the community.

In addition, the Haldermans are involved in charitable organizations in the community, supporting the Children’s Advocacy Center , McKinney Education Foundation, Food Pantry, Community in Schools, and other organizations.
